I just got this from the GRO. So maybe there is a different register?? Stillbirths Obtaining Stillbirth Certificates Due to the sensitive nature of stillbirth registrations, the procedure for ordering a certificate of the entry differs from other types of certificates. We will only send out the application form after we have been contacted by phone or in writing by the mother or father (if he is named on the certificate). In cases where the parents are deceased, a brother or sister can apply if they can provide their parents’ dates of death. |

Form 1927 (or 29??) stillbirths were registered in the GRO stillbirths register. This is a closed register and the details are only accessible to the parents and siblings of the child. Before the above date stillbirths were not registered at all. Merry |

Was it normal to not have a birth or death reference for a stillborn child in the 1940's......there are details of the person (no sex given and no name)from the cemetary records along with the mothers, buried, but I cant find the birth or death reference. |
