Well, usually, but it could be in his parish, or one of them could have gone to 'live' in another parish for a few weeks just to qualify to get married there if they wanted to for some reason (my g-g-grandparents seem to have done this so they could be married by a vicar who was a family friend). Unless there was anything iffy about the liaison - in which case they'd skip off to somewhere where neither was known too well - London was a good choice. Some of the London churches made a bit of a speciality of Not Asking Too Many Awkward Questions, I believe! Christine
