if I have two births one for a girl one for a boy same quarter and year area and volume but different pages numbers I am assuming they are twins, as quite an unusual surname , if I sent for one of the birth certs would it give me any info that it would have been twins or do I need to get both ???? thanks |

Personally Id get both. But you could get one, and if it indicates a twin, youre in luck. They could be closely related, like cousins. |

Jean and Rebekah thanks for your replies, I dont understand why this board is so slow . I am sure its the same family as I said its a very unusual surname , and they are the only family in that area at that time too.I will get both might as well go for broke I am a bit down today which is a worry as I usually end up treating myself and overspending. |

i think if its twins there is normally a time on the cert as to the time the twin was born |

These different page numbers.....they can only be one digit different....more than that and it would be VERY unusual indeed for them to be twins (but not entirely impossible!) ie 200 and 201 or 344 and 345 would be OK, but not 200 and 205 or 344 and 358 If you get one cert the only indication will be if there is a time of birth as well as a date. However, some registrars recorded the time for singleton births and some didn't for twins!! I got caught out (like you might) when two ladies whose husband's were brothers visited the registrar together to register the births of their two new babies! Merry |

If the page numbers follow each other they could be twins (they are usually on the same page, but could be last entry on one page and first entry on the next). If the page numbers are further apart, I wouldn't think they were twins. They could be cousins or some other relation. Kath. x |

Hi Valerie twins would normally be registered together and would be on the same page or maybe one on bottom of one page and the other at start of next Clive |

Sorry just had a nap while waiting for the page to load. Thanks for all your help everybody The girl is page 526 the boy is page 530 I am sure there isnt another family in that area at that time with that name so I am more convinced it is the right family , |

Hi My mother in law was a twin and when I recently checked her birth registration on the index her and her brother were registered in different quarters (born late March 1911... ish ) Mother in laws time on birth was on her birth certificate. Hope this helps. Cheers Gerry |

If the pages are 526 and 530 then you will have a minimum of 24 birth registrations in between the two ''twins''. You have to consider why they would have been registered at different times. It is possible for twins not to be born together.......but very rare. it is much more likely these babies have different mothers. Can we help? Merry |
