Why do they do it? if they don't want people contacting em why put thier tree on here for public domain to see if they dont wanna talk to ya. I messaged someone back in June as she had 4 rellies that looked like mine (same yr of birth same area ok so i realise they may not be the same ones but worth a try) I uploaded more info onto GR tree this morning (I kep most of my info on my seperate tree in case this one goes pear shaped) So I do a name check and lo and behold this lady also has these new names in (now the names she had to start with were great grandad great great grandad and thier brothers) Now ive found my further back grandparents also on 2 other people ive messaged and they never bothered to get back to me either. Its so sad cus Maybe just maybe I have info on nearer generations that perhaps they dont know about and I may have shared this with them. Grrrrr sorry moan over luv angie xxx

Don't give up hope I've had replies after a longer time than that. Bear in mind the person who posted may: a) have done as I did - found this site in its early days via friends reunited and used it just to build a tree, not even noticing that theirewas a message facility -OK I did realise quite quickly when I got a message from a second cousin:-) b) be having computer problems c) have changed their email address and not notified GR - in which case they wont get an email about messages on GR and will have to log in to find them d) be having family or health problems which means this is not a priority at present e) Sadly they may even have died - unless someone in the family knows about GR and logs on to cancel the membership the tree will remain on the site.

That's a very sweeping statement Rebecca.

I have noticed this and commented on it. When people add their trees onto here and then can't be bothered anymore if they don't inform GR then there tree doesn't get removed. They might be plain ignorant, on holiday, missed your message and deleted it. There are quite a few reasons i know which one i go with when i don't get replies though. Have you tried messaging them again. I normally wait about 4 weeks tto make sure their not on holiday/family troubles and then messsage them again just giving them a slight push saying that i messaged them on so and so date and do not seem of received a reply could they possibly confirm that they have received this message and whether the people concerned could be a match to their tree. If i don't get a reply after 4 weeks from that then i just think that they have done their tree and left this site. (probably realised that it's an expensive hobby) Sorry if i've rambled Jen

God this site is slow again today everytime tried to reply says im in a traffic jam grrrrrrrrrr Im gonna message again (I know my cousin didnt reply straight away cus she thought i was a crank lmao) im just so curious as to how these people seem to have (I think) my rellies on their tree's im very curious about my Binch side as even mum was kept in the dark about her dads side of the family (her dad sent her once to a house and told her to tell the owner she was thier grand daughter the owners wernt there but they had a maid whatever it was called back then and she said no you are not thier grand daughter but still gave mum a lovely big hamper which mum was very happy about as she was a right little bessie bunter back then lol) Here I go waffling again lmao One day I might just be able to add 1 sentance and not ramble Luv Angie xx
