My great grandfather died in France during the first wold war. Can I get his death cert. and if so, where from. Thanks

You can, but it may well not be very informative. The index entry can be found on 1837online (a subscription site) under Overseas and then WW1 Army deaths. Have you found his death record on the Commonwealth War Graves site? http://www(.)cwgc.org/ (remove the brackets) Merry

Thanks for that, We have found him on the CWGC website, he is burried in Lille France, last summer we visited his grave for the first time and it was one of the most moving experiences of my life. He is actually my husbands great grandfather and he is going back with his dad on November 11th. Michelle

I have my g g uncles death cert from ww1. it just says 'died in action'.
