would that mean she had died more or less straight away or just that no name had been chosen for her yet ??? I have a girl registered as female in 1884 September Westminster and a boy registered 1884 September Westminster but same volumne different page could they have been twins quite an unusual surname .

If it says female it just means no name was given when she was registered. If you have found a likely female same surname death for the same or consecutive quarter then your hunch about the death might be right. As for twins, you would need to get the certs to confirm. I think twins would always be on the same page of the register. nell

not necessarily, my nana was registered as female because they couldn't decide on a name for her - lol. can you see a possible death in the same or next qtr for her?

They might just not have decided on a name. I have one registered just as Female, but I know who she is because she appears on the next census, right age etc. I suppose to be certain you could check for the baptism - she would have to have a name by then! Tina

Have you looked for these babies on the census or tried to find baptisms?

hi all I did have a look for a likely death but have just noticed something the Father was Prince Albert and Victoria's Shoe Maker and just realised the boy was named Albert obviously after The Prince, I am going to get the two birth certs might as well go for broke . I should have said the boy is named .
