Josephine Keegan to a Percy Walter Eldridge sometime between 1920 and 1926 possible in I.O.W I dont know why I cannot find it , he was a serving Sergeant at Aldershot when the first baby was born in 1923 , I was also told he may have been in India at the start of his Army Career.

If you can't find it a) it never happened b) it happened but the local register office copy got lost before it reached the GRO c) it happened and the copy reached the GRO but they misindexed it d) it wasn't in the registration district you expected. nell

Have you gone through all the GRO marriage index pages for those dates? Maybe you need to widen your search. nell

sorry Nell had to eat. I have looked on 1837 but must admit I could maybe have gone further back will have another look earlier. I wish it were more straight forward sometimes.

I've looked on the online IOW database (thereby bypassing the GRO!) and there's no marriage with those names 1917-1930 Have you considered looking in the Army Marriages on the overseas bit of the GRO indexes. I have found marriages in Aldershot on that before (and as far as I know it does mean Aldershot Hampshire!) Merry
