The ones I have seen from the latter half of the 1800s have DOB, address and name of father )or mother, also when they were admited and when they left. tom. |

Thanks everyone, that is all useful information. I have had a look at a few sites now and have found out where I can view a school log for another ancestor. So will have to take another day off to visit Aberystwyth. Once again thanks for the info. |

It is worth googling the name of the school or village. I have never found any for my own ancestors but have fould logs for other people. I found one admissions register that gave dates of birth and parents for all childen as well as destination on leaving. For anyone who wants a flavour of what is out there try googling high littleton history. |

It very much depends on the individual school. I have found some wonderful information from school logs around that time in Glamorgan and Herefordshire. In both cases the books were still on school premises. They listed birthdate, parents names and address, date of entry to that school, previous school attended ( if any) and next school, if the family moved away. Gwyn |

Mary you need to contact the local record office where they would have been deposited. There should be quite a lot of information beside attendances, I have not looked at any myself but have been promising myself to do so. There is a very good article on this subject in the August edition of Family History Monthly which says school log books can give a lot of info. Pauline |

Hi Mary I think some local records offices may have school log books and registers etc. If you google the local record office for the area you are interested in it may list what they hold Cathy |

Does anyone know if there is any information available from school diaries and registers? I would be very interested in some from the early 1900s in Newport Gwent. |
