I’m looking for the marriage of an Anthony Rowe and a Polly Ann (possibly Vicary/Vickery). I’ve been searching for 3 days now, put all sorts of variations on Ancestry, and I’m going cross-eyed. I’ve found Polly Ann’s death, registered on 7 June 1990 in the Kerrier district of Cornwall under “Polly Ann Rowe”. Under her death it says she was born on 14 September 1912. However, I can’t find her actual birth listed or her marriage to Anthony. Anthony was born September 1907, in St Ives, Cornwall. have found his birth reference on Ancestry. I am going to order his birth certificate but would like to order his marriage certificate at the same time. All the above ties in with the information on their gravestone which I have a photograph of. Can anyone advise what I’m doing wrong please. Many many thanks. Bex

What years have you looked in for the marriage?

Pardon my asking, but have you actually viewed the images on the FULL records on Ancestry? If you're relying on the freebmd extracts, you won't find anything that late. Did these people have offspring? If so, when would the eldest have been born? You need to search a couple of years before....and after. Reg

Every year of every Polly Ann and every Anthony Rowe who ever existed, and all the different ways their names might be listed, lol. Bex

No problem Reggie. Have searched full Ancestry but couldn't find anything. They had 1 daughter, but she is still living and when my father contacted her she seemed a bit upset about the whole thing so he didn't push her too much. I tried to finding her birth details to give me a clue but had no luck there either. Lol, sorry Tracy. Was determined to find this myself and am really annoyed that I haven't managed to. Bex

If she seemed a bit upset - perhaps they didn't marry??

Mm, it did cross my mind. But then I have got a suspicious mind lol. It says 'beloved husband of..' on the gravestone, but that doesn't count for much does it. :) Bex

If they'd started out telling people they were married, and said it often enough for 40odd years, they'd probably beleive it was true :)
