My grandad's mum was married and had 4 kids 1 of which died her husband died then a few years later she had my grandad to some one else and gave him up as a nurse child as the man she was with didn't want kids now what I am wondering as I have found some one related to his mum's other kids are they related to my grandad and my mum or not as he said not as he said that my grandad is her kid not first husband kids but I thought as the other kids are hers also they would be related I hope you understand what I am saying

I think if you just ignore the half-sibling bit and count them as 'whole' siblings (otherwise you'd get yourself confused) then yes they are related

I would say that the 4 children she had with her first husband were half brothers/sisters to your grandad, so they would also share one set of grandparents with him. Carolyn

It depends on whether the person you have found is related on your grandad's mum's side of the family or only through her first husbands side. If this person is descended from grandad's mum's first lot of kids then they ARE also related to your grandad. Hope this makes sense too. Kath. x

The kids are from first marriage as her husband died 1871 just before the cencus my grandad was born 1879/1880 I know he has my gr grans first kids on ancestry and on here but he says we are not related as it is her side of family we are related to I thought it would count in her kids also

I'd say you ARE related, although the more generations you go through, the less of a connection there will be, but there IS still a connection. Kath. x

The person I found is related to my grandad brothers and sister's uncle on dad's side

If the children have the same mother than they are half brothers or sisters, and yes you would then be related. My sister is my half sister and all her children, grandchildren are all related to me.

Hi Val On first reading this I think that you aren't a blood relative of this person but you share relatives because his/her connection is to the first husband and your grandfather wasn't his child. Unless he/she descends from your g-grandmother. What is his/her connection to your g-grandmother's husband? Heather

If your grt grandmother had children by two different partners the four by her first partner are your half granduncles/aunts.They are also half siblings to your grandfather. Any of their children are your half first cousins once removed, the next generation after (the same generation as you) are half cousins twice removed. They do share a blood link with you through your great grandmother. I have several like this in my family as my mother had three partners,my grandparents also had more than one marriage. Glen
