Hi, I have come across both these names as place of birth for some of my ancestors. They are down as boatman so must be close to a river or canal? Has anyone heard of them and if so, where are they??? thanks...Anne

Rode Heath is on the Trent Mersey Canal. Just east of Alsager and North of Stoke. There is a pub there called the Broughton Arms and sells Marston ale. It is right by the canal. The village is slowly turning into a commuter village Try these sites for canals http://www*rfh*dircon*co*uk/T&Mphotos*htm http://www*canals*btinternet*co*uk/ Replace * with a dot No pics of Rode though

Hi Ann Rode Heath is the modern name. Odd Rode is the old parish name. The place is just outside Alsager, which is on the Cheshire/Staffordshire border. There is a canal running though Rode Heath. Tina
