i found a few relatives, but knew them all already just didn't know they had joined gc,

I had 4 pages of them and not one anywhere near close. Having said that in the past I have managed to make contact with one who is distantly related once removed type of thing. I think it works on the principle that if someone else has the same name then it's a match it doesnt consider the location or that the country might be different. Anyway always worth going through them I think. Lou

Peter, I do, I do. My tree matches and the New Names Alert are my favourite tools. But I don't completely despise Hot Matches, though it rarely throws up anyone I haven't contacted already. It was just that triumph of optimism over experience.

Phoenix My best was 19 - no two of them with the same surname, none born within about 50 years of each other, none of them born in the same county and some not even in the same country! And some of them seemed awfully familiar, as Hot Matches. OC
