I did wonder that OC,apparently it was Wales for both marriages. I did manage to give a little guidance to the person needing the info, she had been buying credits to search the index,i did give a gentle prod towards Ancestry, but i'm struggling with this. Not sure if the peeps are still living so i won't post names. Glen

Maybe the marriages took place abroad? Tradition to marry in the bride's home town. OC

Shame the grooms have common surnames,i haven't found one reference to the brides surname from 1940 to 1955,even via kids births 1948 to 1953. Seems kind of strange, haven't even looked for the other one yet,but that looks like the dutch one. Glen

Well I should imagine that the German bride certainly would anglicise her name round about 1945 if she had any sense - don't know about the dutch one though. OC

I was contacted yesterday by a new GR member trying to find 2 marriages. Both have brides from overseas and are from around 1945 onwards. After having a couple of messages i now know some of the childrens names and rough idea of when,BUT the first one i'm trying to find seems odd. I can't find any of the children with the right mmn via the index, and can't find the marriage. Do you think that a German and Dutch bride would 'anglicise' the surname? Glen
