Finding graves in Town Cemeteries

Has anyone managed to find their relatives' graves in Town Cemeteries? I just wondered whether the Town Council would be the people to contact. It is in Cullompton, Devon where they are buried. Any help please. Thanks, Sue |

Yes, you should contact the local council, having first armed yourself with the exect date of death. Hopefully they will help you free of charge, though I'm afraid councils have identified this help as another way of extracting money from people in the last few years. believe me, finding a gravestone without their help requires an awful lot of patience or good luck.........and all the time you would be thinking, ''What if the grave is unmarked?''.....which is something else they should be able to tell you. they can be found by luck, I did that this week.But others I have emailed the local bereavement service, they asked name and date of death and replied with plot numbers, I then went to the cemetery and the groundsman found the plots for me, all were unmarked Linda |

I just ring the Cemeteries office---part of local council,tell them the dates and name and ages and they look it up and make me an appointment with the Cemetery person who kindly shows me to the grave,they are so good. |
