Hi Jay, I found a great site with some of mine in the 1803 census from Studland, Dorset on the south coast...there were parish transcripts too...look up Studland on GenUK and follow the links...anyone with ancestors from that area!! Louise |

Years ago someone sent me details of extended family members named in this schedule. (I THINK they got the info from Great Yarmouth library as it came with info on Yarmouth shipping, but not absolutely sure of the location of the document.) I don’t know how much of the original has survived, but from it I have found out that one of my rellies (a ship’s master) was in the Volunteer service & was appointed stock driver, to oversee the removal of cattle from the docks. Another section gives names, occupations and ages of residents. So, if you have ancestors in Great Yarmouth around this time, might be worth your while e-mailing the Yarmouth library and enquiring if they have the doc and will do a search for you. Jay |

A potentially useful source? - Plans of evacuation 1803-4 (levee en masse) drawn up in case of invasion by the French, during the Napoleonic War. |
