Back in the 1700's merchant ships often took paying passengers but they didn't take (or very rarely) official lists of who they were.

Another one for you Craig - this one does passenger lists but not sure if it's for the right years: http://www.frenchlines*com/index_en.php replacing the star with a d o t (.)

Hi Craig Sorry can't give you the answer you're looking for, the only passenger lists I know of are on Ancestry and the ships list d o t c o m - which is for America and Canada. Have you tried googling to see if there's anything out there? Snowdrops

(I did try this thread on the Record office board but could not find anything about this) Hi I am trying to see if there are any records of 1 of my ancestors who was born in La Rochelle, France in 1704, which settled in England in about 1740's - i know that he married (have not found a year) but they had their first child in 1746 in London. The person who was born in France and am looking for is Jacob/Jaques Goudeau. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about records relating to this, if anyone has had the same situation as me. Please if anyone knows of any sites or an address which could help me would be great If you have any questions then please just ask me Thank you Craig
