Hello all the Canadians out there- I have been embroiled in tracking the movements of a family from england to the Isle of Man-little was known until I unearthed 4 addresses ,all bmd records and conveyance and probate details on the Isle- the last surviving mamber of the family on the Isle must have moved to Canada in say the period 1935-50- was recorded as living in Windsor, Ontario in 1952.........as a radio technician....JOHN ROGERS was born in 1915....and may well have passed away by now...but I am interested in finding any relations of his over there......as of now,I have phoned the house where he was living in 1952(no luck) have phoned most of the 27 households in the area with the surname (no luck).........it is possible he may have worked for Bell Canada (just a guess) and is not a blood relation of the Rogers Radio firm (as in mobiles) ...I seem to get the vibe that bmd indexes are inobtainable from this side...but am willing to be told otherwise.....any ideas...?? Hello Chris I have a relative I have recently made contact with that emigrated to Canada in the 1960's with her parent's. I posted a request for information on a visitor's book on a webpage from where their last known location was. It's a bit of a longshot but it worked. A friend of her's read it and passed on the information. Maybe google Windsor, Ontario and find a local website. I had also thought about requesting information from a local newspaper. Perhaps a small ad with PO box number. Given that you don't have any more dates and names, a blanket search could take ages. Wishing you lots of luck M |
