Thanks all! THOMAS W. was definitely born Leicestershire so unfortunately the Darlington one is wrong (unless he was adopted and lost his origins?) The 1868 one looks promising - I had suspicions that his middle name of WESTON was the name of his father and there is a family next door to them (think it was next door, but they ran the pub) whose name was WESTON. The plot thickens! Allie

Thanks for that. I've just had a look at the 1901 and he is listed as DESTON BELL!!!! This looks like him as it is KNIGHTON and the right year of birth! Eureka!
