For any one who had rellies who were at Southwell Workhouse Nottingham in the 19th Century. Are free to roam around unattended (usually it is a audio tour with set routes) this Sunday 11am to 4pm You can try your hand at typical chores such as window cleaning scrubbing floors (do enbough at home thanx lol) as well as listen to stories from the inmates in the replica 19th century workhouse. Admission £4-90 adults £2-40 children Sounds quite interesting might pop down to have a look round (dont think any of my rellies where there tho) Luv Angie xxx

Also on Southwell workhouse. I read about a week ago that some of the correspondence from the workhouse - about inmates, staff etc, is due to go on the National Archives site in the near future. Sounds interesting!

Things are getting better all the time arnt they Ann xxx I was at Wilford Hill cemetry last week and was talking to the lady in the office and she said all thier records are going onto computer so wonder how long before they let it go on the internet (now that would be fantastic and save the poor staff time and energy dragging them massive books out that cabinet to search for people that may be buried there or cremated lol) Luv Angie xxx

Went to Southall Workhouse last month and absolutely enjoyed it. The headsets provided give all the info and takes just over an hour to go round. All the people there are really helpful but no tearoom if you are planning a day there, just some vending machines in a small covered area of the carpark which is set back from the house. Just means you will have to go to the pub after like we did! Elaine
