I have a male ancestor who married, had 8 or 9 children and when widowed, married another woman who was 19 years his junior. She was born in 1881 the same year as his youngest child. Every time I enter his dob as 1862, GR refuses to save it and changes it back to 1880? I have checked FTM where the GEDCOM is from and that's correct. I can't understand it. I've uploaded it twice now and it's still the same. Perhaps GR don't approve of such big age gaps LOL |

Sue, are you changing the year of birth on the first page of details and the date of birth on the second page and then clicking on 'Save details to tree'? Kate. |

You're not adding comments at the same time, are you? Because when I add comments and try to save to GR I often get an error. And I seem to remember Merry had a problem a few weeks ago with updating somebody she had uploaded from a GEDCOM, and the problem was not in the data item she was updating, but some other data item, and I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Perhaps Merry will look on here and help us out? Kate. |

Thanks Kate, it's just the date that I'm changing. You're a star for trying to help. I must get to bed, hubby's on nights and I think, 'I'll just have 5 minutes' that was 2 hours ago. |

erm.........now then.........There was some date on the file that had been uploaded with the gedcom that was in the wrong format. I think it was a date of death, in my case?? As I had the year in already, I just took out the exact date and it was OK after that. I'm absolutely no expert on the GR tree.....that's the only amendment I've ever made to mine!! Merry |

Have I had too much wine.......?????????? If the bride was the same age as the youngest child of her husband and she was 19 years hubby's junior, then his youngest child was 19 years his junior as well.....but the husband had already produced a bunch of children before that.......that can't be right can it?? I'm going to bed now before anyone replies! Merry |
