Aaaaaaggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Yesterday Mr Paul Barton sent me a very kind message regarding a man on my tree by the name of Edwin Arthur Brassey Crockett. There's a document for sale regarding Mr Crockett on http://www.ancestordocs(.)co.uk/index.htm (an excellent site) Now......Mr Barton wasn't to know that Mr Crockett isn't my relation, but was the husband of one of my pretty distant cousins. To be honest I had virtually forgotten Edwin Crockett's existance. I mentioned to Mr Barton that Mr Crockett seemed a bit of a shady character, having married four times - my relative being the second wife. Thanks to Mr Barton, I decided to have a further look at Edwin Arthur Brassey Crockett to check I had all the info I could on him. Now I find he married five times and there's a remote possiblility of a sixth!!!!! Here are the marriage partners: 1) Henrietta Helen Mackenzie married 1861 died 1862 aged 21 Possibly another one in between here!! 2) Elizabeth Isabel Walcott married 1866 died 1867 aged 28 3) Mary Emily Goodman married 1872 died 1878 aged 33 (my relative) 4) Marion Jean Price married 1891 died 1894 aged 27 5) Violet Helen Perry Keene married 1897 aged 25. Violet seems to have outlived her husband who died in 1915 aged 80. Joking apart about how he got through so many women, imagine losing all those wives???? Number's one and three definitely died in childbirth and it looks quite possible the same fate met numbers two and four........ How dreadful.................. So, now I need some more funds to sort out this non-relation, as he and his wives are bugging me, and it's all Paul's fault for bringing him to my attention! Merry

I believe Crockett went on to be a vice detective in Miami in partnership with Detective Tubbs.

Maybe he needed a break! He was a widower in 1871 and 1881! I wondered if there was another marriage between 1 and 2 because there's a child born in the gap that looks very likely to be Edwin's!!! Unfortunately as she was born in India and isn't on the IGI I can't be certain.....she might be a child of his brother, or similar............... Merry

Merry, can you please have a look at 'Dover Sue''s thread on here and see if it could be connected with that problem you were having a few weeks ago? I can't remember the details of yours now... Kate.
