I'd just like to share how brilliant the staff are at The Lancashire Certificate Service in Preston. So friendly and helpful even though they are snowed under with cert rquests. Nothing was too much trouble even though they couldn't find the cert I wanted, and directed me to Southport GRO. I'd applied and paid online Friday afternoon, Monday morning they rang me, and sent a detailed email, explaining the difficulty. They have refunded my online payment and invited me to see their massive archives if ever i'm in Preston. How wonderful is that? Cheers Margaret.

Very glad to hear that, Margaret, as I have been wondering what their new service was like - havent used it myself yet. I have always had wonderful help from Blackburn Ro and from Salford too, so glad to hear the tradition continues! OC

It's really easy to use, especially online payment. I found Salford great as well, Manchester were a bit offhand as they had to search and charged me extra, but that could just have been the person I dealt with on the phone. Cheers Margaret.

Another thumbs up for Salford! May well be needing the services of Lancashire soon, so it's good to know that they are helpful. (Hmm... If I order another cert from Salford now, it'll likely be here by the weekend... NO!! Must... stop... till... payday...) Gordon

I too found Manchester a bit off - my oily charm didnt work on them and they refused to tell me which cert I wanted! But - my brother went in there in person and the clerk let him look through the register - highly illegal, so don't tell anyone! OC
