Have just spoken to Mum, she remembers the Kiddell family but not your Dad. She has some photos of Empire Day at St Augustines school and is going to look them up. She would be willing to share them with whoever is compiling the website/ book. When she has found them I will let you know and if you are coming to the Norwich meet I could bring them for you to look at and see if you can find your Dad. If not, as we live so near each other we could meet up. (Mum lives on the border of Sprowston and Catton, so she is near you too).

I know Mum went to St Augustines School too. Will ring her now and ask her.

He went to St Augustines I think but I vaguely remember Bull close being mentioned. He died almost 20 years ago & never much liked talking about his childhood so I can't be 100% sure. His name was Leonard but always known as Lenny . Now wouldn't that be fantastic if she knew him, I could come & have a chat with her. If she has any photos or memories I have the e-mail of the man who is putting it altogether, they are hoping to do a web site & maybe a book.

I will ask mum, she was born in 1924 so they may even have gone to school together. Do you know which one he went to? What was his Christian name?

Ang

Ang Report 15 Aug 2006 21:09

No thats not me in the picture, you will have to wait longer to see my beauty !! lol Actually my Dad was born in 1923 , so ask your Mum if she knew any Kiddells, pronounced Kid-dell , They were a big family so made their mark on the community. Sadly only one brother left now

Ang, I have just re read the article - was that you in the picture? My mother lived in the area in the 1930`s, probably too early to have known your Dad, but I know she will be interested in the exhibition - you did say it was going to be open on the Heritage Days didn`t you? PS. Can I have your autograph please? lol.

Yes Frances it is in that article. Was hoping it could bring some contacts in. Actually anybody connected with the area may well work out that the name should be Kiddell not Ciddell. I think I might e-mail them tomorrow as they are often appealing for photos & stories of that area. Naturally when I am famous I will remember all of you who took time to chat to me on GR !! lol

Ooh Ang, is it in the Evening News? I saw the article about St Augustines, but will go back and read it again to see your quote - then I can say 'I know her' (well sort of!) Off to find the paper now!

Yes it does seem normal for Norfolk. I slowly spelled the name out because nobody spells it right. There we go Thats Life!!

Normal for Norfolk, then!

At a local heritage day on Sunday I did a quote for the local paper about the event. I made sure she noted my maiden name, thinking of the possible contacts that could bring. Well .... she spelt it wrong :-( Looks like it really will be 5 minutes!
