Would anyone happen to have access (on disk?) to any Salisbury parish records (or know of any online transcriptions?). Am looking for any marriages/baptisms/deaths for surname SANGER (which is very uncommon name and won't be many in that area). I have been given a baptism entry by someone, as follows, and am trying to trace either further siblings or the marriage of the parents and their deaths. I managed to find one further baptism on the IGI (same info as below but for a MARIA Sanger) but nothing else. SANGER, William Randell - Christening 17 Feb 1791, Salisbury, Wiltshire Collection St Thomas Father: Christopher Sanger Mother: Mary Source FHL film 1279310 dates 1570-1904. Any help, pointers, advice would be much appreciated.

If you would like to send me your email address I will send you a nice long list of Sangers taken from the BIVRI - includes 200 baptisms and about 60 marriages - should keep you busy for a while!!

Hi Athena I'm going to the Trowbridge records office this morning so if I get time I'll look for Sangers. Will report back either way. Pat

Hi Athena Mission accomplished! Christopher Sanger married Mary Weale in St Martin's, Salisbury on 16th August 1786. (Spooky, finding it on their 220th Wedding Anniversary). Children of Christopher and Mary that I found in St Thomas's:- Ann and Jane Baptised 5th November 1788 Maria and William Randell Baptised 17th February 1791 Could not find anything in St Thomas's burials register re parents' deaths. Hope that helps Pat

Hi Patricia WOW!! That was quick! And a result, too. Fantastic news!!! That's another piece of the puzzle in place. Thank you so much, you're a real star for taking the time to look that up for me. I have a feeling that perhaps the family moved away from that area after those four children were born and possibly had others elsewhere (possibly by a second wife, even). Wiltshire covers such a large area that it's going to take me a while to track them all down. I think my William Randell married in Bristol Somerset in 1812 to Mary Ann Webber (at least I have that marriage entry and it ties in with the birth year of the eldest son, William b1812 - and Bristol does crop up on census info for some of them). I might just have to invest in some parish record CDs if they are available for Wilts. Thanks again for everything. Athena (with big smiley face) :)

Athena You're very welcome. I wondered if they had moved away after those 4 children. There was a John Sanger in the burials that I looked at, and another marriage of a Robert Sanger, widower to Sarah Barnes in St Thomas,Salisbury. Didn't note the date I'm afraid. Any help? Pat
