Part of my family tree reaches into Bisley in Gloucestershire. A couple of the people in it - and some of their neighbours - have their occupation listed as 'stick bender' or 'stick worker'. So - aside from the obvious answer - what did a stick bender do?

Thia was an entry from the 1871 census for Frampton which could be relevant HUNT Elizabeth Widow 52 Umbrella Stick Worker Sapperton
