Just been wondering why Revd Tubby (Phillip) Clayton was so called (he who started Toc H), and looked at a picture of him on a website. Didn't look tubby at all!! … :-) Joy

Hi Louise Google for Tubby Isaacs, he was a really famous jellied eel seller in the East End of London, you might get his real name. Tobias might not be that far from the truth. Jeanne

The only remote possibility would be Tobias, but I think it improbable......much more liekly to be an indication of his girth. Reg

Hi Louise 'Fraid it's likely to be a nickname. Know a guy who has been called Tubby and Tub for short since schooldays because of his girth. His real name is Duncan. Regards, Carol
