I've had a look at b4u and www.192 sites for electoral rolls without success. I noted one of the answers on this site said there is none available for 1917 and 1940 which are the dates I'm looking for the addresses I have but where do find the information? I'll look instead for 1916 and 1939, I didn't think I was that thick! Of course, someone will tell me otherwise!!! |

If I understand your question correctly, you are trying to find out where to look at electoral rolls from about 1916 and 1939? You will have to go to the relevant record office or library, and they will almost certainly be organised by address, so you will need to know what address you want to look at, or at least the name of the street. As Kaite says you will have to go to the library nearest to the area you want or ask if anyone lives near to the area, and sometimes the war years are no all there,it's a nuisance we know,or you could ring up the relevant library and they may do a look up for you No one say's it's easy---good l;uck |

No electoral registers were taken during war years, so you will have to look at the years just before or after the wars. Remember that on the registers around the first world war there won't be any women registered (they didn't have a vote then) and only men eligible to vote (over 21), and you will need an address - not names.
