Does anyone from the area know if there is still a large cemetery in Castleford please, as my grandmother was buried there in 1952 and if so, how can I find out the plot number of her grave - she had no headstone? Stella

I don't know, but if you go on rootschat, they have forums set up by area and a huge one for Yorkshire!

Give us the name Stella and I will have a look. The site can be a bit confusing. It can be useful just to type the surname you might find others if they came from the area. Bob

Bob That's a cracking link you've given us - I just had a look for my OH's family from Pontefract and I got them going back to 1881 - fantastic. THANK YOU. Snowdrops

Robert - thank you so much !! How on earth did you do it - yes that is her. Now I'll tell you why I want to know. My mother never could afford a headstone, so hubby and I are at long last going to get her one - will sort it when we go to Yorkshire some time soon. Thank you so much. Stella

Snowdrops. Don't forget the online search burial registers as all the names have not been transcribed into the other search. This is one good thing Wakefield council have done. I found five infant death Great aunts/uncles on it. ( bit sad that though) Bob
