Can anyone advise on how to decipher illegible certificates? We've tried blowing up & zooming on screen/ magnifying glass & enlarging prints all to no avail. Would appreciate any advice. Many thanks Terry & Colin

If it's a certificate that you have ordered recently, then phone the GRO or relevant register office (wherever you ordered it from) and tell them you cannot read it. I have done this in the past and they have been very helpful in either trying to decipher it for me or sending a better copy. If you can scan the certificate and send it so I can have a look for you I will send my email address. Just let me know, although it might be tomorrow now, as I really must go to bed soon. Kath. x

Perhaps if you could scan or photograph them you could email them to someone here that is good at reading them

Some photocopiers reverse the image so that you get white writing on black - which makes some easier to read Peter

If its a certificate then I would look to go back to the original. Get a new certifcate issued from the register.
