I have a relative called William Trussell born c1841. On 1851 census he is 10 years old and is a scholar. On a Bunyan Tree it says he drowned in the River Stout, Roydon, Essex in 1861. I wonder if there would be any newspaper archives with any reference to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated as its a complete mistery as to what happened. thx Nicola

I expect that the report of the death and subsequent inquest would have been reported in the local paper. Find out where the archive of the local paper is held, at the local library or record centre perhaps. Also see if the nearest record centre holds documentation re the inquest. You can try looking on the website A2A, but not all records are recorded on there, otherwise contact the records office itself. Good luck! Rachelxx

Don't know if you already have this, but this would seem to be his death reference:- William Trussell Sept. qtr. 1861, Epping, 4a, 39. It's the only William Trussell death registered in 1861. Kath. x
