Hi Can anyone help? My grandfather had a brother, Jimmy, who was either killed at around the time of, or died in WW2. His family, the Sexton’s, all lived around the Bermondsey area of London (so were born in St Olave / Southwark area). I believe he was born in 1903, although there is a listing for a Walter James Sexton being born in St Olave in 1906 so that is a possibility). My uncle, who was born in 1932, remembers him and thought he was killed in the war but another family member (my gran’s brother) told an aunt a few years ago that he wasn’t killed in the war. They knew each other quite well because they used to ride their motorcycles together. I have checked the records of the commonwealth war graves and can’t find anything for James, Jimmy, J or even W or Walter Sexton. I have looked at all the indexes from 1942 to 1950 for a J or W Sexton of the right age – nothing. Does anyone have any idea where I can looked next? I would like to solve this family mystery once and for all. Thanks in advance! |

Hi Nell Thanks very much for the reply. Any idea how I go about that (I can guess which regiment he was from y the area he lived). Do I contact the regiment direct or is there information on the National Archives? (I'm being lazy, I am sure the information is all here if I read back through old messages :-) Thanks again! |
