I have just checked Ancestry 1984-2004 deaths for you and couldn't find anyone of that name, born in 1911, so he could have been alive then. There is a thread by Derek Corkindale, offering electoral role look ups, he might be able to help, I'll try & nudge it up for you. Lynn

Wow, that was quite a task - 72 years, 4 quarters per year - how long did it take to check 288 pages of index? My computer would have gone on strike I think. Seriously, have you also checked the index from 1983 to 2003 - at least that is computerised so easier to search. If still no sign he could have died abroad, changed his name, his death could have been missed by the GRO indexers or he might still be alive. Phone directories and electoral rolls are available online, though he may be ex directory and have ticked the privacy box on the electoral form. Good hunting Judith

is it possible to find out if a person is still living?. my grandmothers nephew Arthur John Slow was born in 1911 in Wandsworth and I've checked ancestry deaths up to 1983 but cant find him. thanks jenny
