Thanks Bit of a mystery this one,1841 shows a lodger,William Thorbon,a mariner, born c1800 Foreign parts. I have him in later census in Guernsey with unmarried sisters and marked as a retired mariner and property owner. Just wonder if Rebecca was from Guernsey herself. I think she was born around 1880-90 but can't be sure.Too many blooming Harrisons to look at!! Glen |

Sorry Glen, Can't find anything that matches. They must have married before 1800 or in another county. Wendy |

Hi Wendy Thanks for the offer John Harrison to Rebeka Thorborn (as transcribed on baptism record) The 1841 and 51 census show her as Rebecca Harrison, though she may have the maiden name of Thorbon (subsequent grandchildren have that as a middle name) Glen |

Glen, I have the Norfolk Marriage Index from 1800 to 1837. If you give me some details I will see if I can find anything. Wendy |

What is the best way to narrow down the search area when looking for a marriage. I know that one child was baptised in Heacham,1826,mum claims Lynn as place of birth, dad expired before the 1851.(well i can't find him anyway) They were quite elderly at the time of the baptism so could have been married well before. Nothing on the IGI or Norfolk transcription site. Glen |
