I have just got a mariage cert though this morning and for the ages the husband is show as 'of full age' and the wife as 'a minor'. what kind of age whould she have been? I know that at one point you had to be 21 to marry but i don't know when this happened. Thanks Rachel |

any age from 12 to 21 girls could marry at 12 boys at 14 with parental consent even if you were one month off 21 would say minor. you had to have had your 21st to marry without parental consent. This lasted for many years, I married aged 20 in 1957 and had to have parental consent even then |
