It doesn't look like Cox at all, but there is this marriage on Ancestry, which I guess is them:- Name: Ellen Thain Year of Registration: 1870 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Bethnal Green County: Greater London, London, Middlesex Volume: 1c Page: 550 One of the other people on the page is Hatton Samuel G. Cox. Kath. x p.s. The surname definitely doesn't say Moss on the image - compare it to the 'M' of Married in the condition of marriage column.

Thanks for looking. My samuel Cox was a wood sawyer and he married Ellen Thain I found them on the 1851 census with mother- in - law living with them who was Ann Thain who was needle woman. I cannot make my mind up if it reads Cox but it just seemed a coincidence that all the details tied up except of course the surname says Moss? Thanks again for looking Gwen

Gwen, I have saved the 1871 image - if you need it then please send pm with email addy. Not sure the surname is Cox or Moss - the first letter is not the same as the M for Mary - but looks more like a B when compared to Boot. Address - Tabernacle Walk Samuel is a wood sawyer and Ann a needle woman Maureen

Did you look at the original image only I think it is to much of a coincidence for Ann Thain to living with someone called Samuel & Ellen Moss when I have found them previously living with Samuel & Ellen Cox. Thanks Gwen
