Apart from ordering reels of microfilm from my LDS centre, can anyone suggest where I can get access to the 1881 census? I have a marriage in the mid 80s but can't find the bride in 1881. Also, I have found 1871 on CollectionsCanada, but it only seems to list the head of the house. Hoping to find the bride and her sister - I would have guessed they were with their father, but his name isn't coming up.

Hi Margaret - I live in Canada, but all of my ancestors came from England & Ireland, so I don't know much about Canadian census records. However, I *think* that the LDS site (http://www.familysearch.org) has the 1881 Cenus of Canada online. Have you tried there already? the full URL is http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp. Good luck - Tim

Thanks Tim, but I have already checked the census on LDS/familysearch. I haven't been able to find her under any spelling of her surname. I was wondering if there was any other place to check.

Hi Margaret. There is a thread on the Records Board for Canadian census. You might post a lookup there. Also, I have two ancestors who are not anywhere on the 1881 census and I've tried every variation of their names as well as knowing they were in Toronto at the time. For whom are you looking?
