I have my Grandparents marriage cert' William Alfred Baldock married Elizabeth Mack 1924 in Shoreditch. I sent off for Williams and Elizabeth's birth cert'...all is fine with Williams, but the one I have received for Elizabeth says her father is James Albert...the marriage cert' says Thomas Henry...have I sent off for the wrong cert'? I would be grateful if anyone can help with this. Elizabeth Mack 18/011899 Shoreditch |

When was Elizabeth Born? Did you know that when you order the certificate from GRO if you tell them who the father is then they will check you have the correct person before sending the certificate and i know if you pay by card that they only charge £3/£4 to your card. Jen |

I have the parents of William...Frederick George and Elizabeth Tatum. But all I know of Elizabeth Mack is that they lived in Shoreditch. |

Hi Trudi i only found this out by talking to them apparantly when you send orders through online they only look at the 1st couple of lines but there is a bit where you can add additional information a few lines down the page. I haven't done this yet so maybe somebody else could shed some light on it a little better than me. Jen |

If Elizabeth was only 20 when she married then she was born c.1904 and won't be on the Census. These are possible birth refs Name: Elizabeth Mack Year of Registration: 1905 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Bethnal Green County: Greater London, London, Middlesex Volume: 1c Page: 179 Name: Kitty Elizabeth Mack Year of Registration: 1904 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Wandsworth County: London, Surrey Volume: 1d Page: 776 |

hiya if it were me, i'd get her death cert, and then get her sisters birth cert, this will then verify the fathers name, and indeed the mothers maiden name, that way you might have more luck Julie |

Thank you!!!! Bethnal Green is very close to Shoreditch, so it is a good possibility. I thought her age may have been wrong on the marriage cert', that's why I went with the other Elizabeth in Shoreditch. I have such limited info on her. Many Thanks Trudi |

Trudi, When ordering online, they only look at the name of the person. To check a father's or mother's name you need to click on the reference check box further down the page, and add the info in the boxes there. If the ref check doesn't tie up, they usually e-mail you to let you know. Helen |
