Cause of Death - 1910/11

Hi, I have two death certs for 2 children aged 1 month and 15 mins, both causes of death were Debility Certified. does anyone know what that means? Many thanks E x

If there was no debility specified, and they were both children, it could mean failure to thrive. But not 100% sure. Bex

Hi Thanks for that, no debility was specified. Although I do know the 1 month old's mother died of TB just 3 days before he died. E x

isnt that sad I would say the mother was too ill while pregnant so the babies were under nourished while in the womb.

Aw, bless :( That could explain it. If she couldnt feed the child herself and there was no wet nurse available, then the poor baby wouldn't have had much chance. And if she was feeding herself then the child wouldn't have been getting any goodness from the milk. Yep, that's probably more like it, about being undernourished whilst in the womb. It makes you think how lucky we are today doesn't it. Bex
