Hi Can anyone tell me what information I would see on an English death certificate for 1849 in Hertfordshire? Will I find out the name of the spouse? Will I find out where the person was born? Will I find out the names of the dead person's parents. Thank you for your assistance. REgards Walter |

Afraid not Walter. The name of the spouse will only be shown if they are the informant - hopefully it will be a family member, but not always. It wont tell you where he was born, nor his parents - only where he died and the occupation and what condition he died from. Why dont you go over to Tips Board with your query - as it may be the spouse can be found in another way for you. |

hiya, the short answer is no, to all above, at that date all you may get, is name of deceased, informant and cause of death, and date of death, it may say wife or husband of........ it doesnt give, DOB, that doesnt happen until, 1969, as with maiden names, hope this helps Julie |

Hi, Julie, just noticed that - LOL. I have eldest boy here, hanging over my shoulder trying to sort out computer as we talk - which is a bit distracting. I was just looking at updates on dear Jane's condition and didnt realise Id whipped over to here! WALTER, give us the details of this person who you are trying to trace. |

Not quite true about the spouse (for a married female at least) - it will usually say ''wife (or widow) of ....'' and then name the husband. Again, it depends if the informant knew that info of course! Richard |
