Hello Can anyone please tell me what No 1 Warrington Road is/was, it is shown as the place of death of a rellie, on her death cert. If i 'google' the address i find several other deaths recorded there, is it a hospital by any chance? If so, why would they not put the name of the hospital? Its all a bit weird, husband down as -------- Smith, occupation unknown, home address in London - this was 1942. war years i know but it still seems a long way to go for a hospital |

Hi Maureen, I'm seeing a hospital if I Google that address. It's still there. Go to Multimap.*com and use L35 5DR as the postcode. Rose |

St. Helen's & Knowsley Hospital NHS Trust. He could have died in hospital that specialized in his illness. My ancestor died at Folkstone, a convalescent home, even though he lived in London. Good luck Irene |

Thanks for replies all you 'early birds' It may be the way i wrote my last message, but, this is a female i am talking about - my Grandmother. She wrote a letter while in hospital(?) saying she was being looked after by 'sisters' and gave an address as Whiston Russet. All i could find was Whiston Hospital. I wrote to them and was told it was 'highly unlikely' she would have been a patient in there seeing as her home address was London. It was suggested she might have been in Rainhill Asylum (still no reason why she would have been so far away from home) I have contacted the records off ice of Lancs, they put me in touch with Central Library of Liverpool. i also wrote to Tower Hamlets/Poplar (the Council she would have come under in London ) asking if there was any arrangements made during the war for patients to go to Lancs). I was also told that the reg districe that Rainhill came under was Prescot. I looked through GRO and found a death recorded. And that is where i have got my information from. I know it is the correct cert because of the home address in London that is given.. . But no husbands first name and no occupation for him. Also her middle name is missing, its almost as if someone who didnt know anything about her apart from her name supplied the details. I am now at a lost to know what to do. People are saying its Whiston Hospital, the hospital is saying she wouldnt have been there, where do i go from here? The strange thing is, if i google 1 Warrington St it comes up with other peoples deaths (yes i know it would, if it is a hospital) but why are they all old ladies? My grandmother was 64 which i suppose was classed as old then. Maureen |

Maureen - this has really piqued(?sp) my curiosity as its only up the road from me - about 5 miles away. Was there any note of her religion on any of your documents? I may be able to pop up there next week and see whats there now but in the meantime try Widnes or Halton libraries - I know Widnes have a comprehensive family history dept with keen and lovely staff - they may be able to help you in your search.
