Maybe it was a family surname? My gg grandfather was called Gillatt - it was his mother's maiden name. One of my husband's was called Westerby (yes, Westerby East!!) Anne |

Hi Anne, yes, I have considered that but, there is a family name already coming down the line..........a different one, which I have not managed to track back to the source yet. Gripton would appear to be a complete one off! Jen |

If it is a surname from a previous generation you might find it goes back beyond the parents of the child. Yesterday i found what looks like the source of a strange name (both christian and middle name) for my g g/m.It looks like a link to her grandmother,(possibly her maiden name). Glen |

I understand that Glen but, would there be two family names carried down in one family? I think that would be unusual......there is already another family name coming from that branch which keeps getting passed down. Jen |

Oh yes, Jen. Westerby's family also had the name Archer passed down the family too. There were several Archer Easts, as well as at least two Westerbys in the same family. Both names were from grandmothers or great grandmothers. It could be a surprisingly long way back. Anne |

Ah! I shall have to keep a sharp look~out then Anne lol! I just purchased the 2nd edition BIVRI from America LDS......can't wait to use it but going to have to, as lappy needs a new power pack, and I didn't realise before but you can only install the BIVRI on one computer! So need to make sure it's up an running properly. Jen |

Jen, There's nothing on FreeBMD for this as a first name. Where did you get it from? Rose |

My dad had two middle names - one surname from his mother's side, one surname from his father's side. |
