Hi, I'm trying to help my Uncle order his birth cert through the GRO. He doesn't like paying by credit card over the internet, prefering instead to pay by cheque. Does anyone know if he can do this through the GRO. If not, then what other options does he have. Thanks for your help. Rachelxx

Why not order through the local Register Office? You can do this by post and send a cheque and it is usually a lot quicker than GRO. Dea x

There is an option of ordering by post through the GRO,or it can be done via the local office and payment made by cheque. The local office you need depends on where he was born. Glen

Thank you Glen, that's a kind offer. He was born in Eastbourne Sussex, so I guess that means that he has to contact East Sussex Record Office in Lewes.

Try this,it should be the registrars office you need, Eastbourne Town Hall, Grove Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4UG. Tel: 01323 410000 ext 5051. Fax: 01323 431386. You don't need the GRO ref number, just his approx date of birth and they should be able to supply the cert. Glen
