hi all, need help finding a record of my grandads birth, i have been on ancestry,scotlands people (only goes to 1910) his name is francis cowan brownlie, dob- 1923, death- 1999 born- glasgow area (poss lanark ) parents- john brownlie and margaret gates thier parents- james brownlie and janet brownlie (mclean) john gates and margaret gates (wilson) any help or info will be very much appreciated thanks stacy

Are you certain he was born in Scotland? I've had a look for you, can only find his death I'm afraid.

hi mandy, thanks for the reply, he was definately born in scotland, glasgow area, he came to england after ww2, where he married my granny and they lived in ashington, he was a miner and they had 3 children ( one being my mum, ) he nerer really spoke of his side of the family, since found out that his father died in 1929 and that he was brought up by his mother, if i cant find his birth ,i might try and find the siblings, wish me luck stacy

Yes, maybe finding the siblings could help somewhat. If you know where he lived when he was born, you could also maybe search the baptisms to find a vauge idea too.
