A good idea also is if you know they had children.. on the marriage cert for the children it could be recorded as Father's Name with Deceased attached in Brackets so say you have a 1925 marriage and it says Father is deceased could look between 1910 and 1925.. for the death which will help narrow down the time frame Mo |

Address is www.family relatives.org Yes, it is pay to view but is particularly good for period 1866 (I think) to 1920 as you can search by name and place and not have to look at each individual image. Dea.x May have to disappear as baby Granddaughter should be waking up any minute. x |

Have searched Free Bmd and Lancs Bmd - none of a suitable age. Then went to cwgc site to see if he had dies during 14-18 war. These are the easy ones. Next to go onto Ancestry and perhaps search starting 1909 (he could have died before child was born. - It is a case of checking through each quarter. Dea x |

No further deaths up to 1980! I tried the lancashire site Dea suggested but came up with nothing. http://freebmd(.)rootsweb(.)com/cgi/search(.)pl This is the site (omit the brackets) I used which may help you in other deaths. |

Hi Mandy, Thanks, but those dates don't fit. I would expect to see a death after 1910. Nikki |

For Bolton, you have Lancashire Bmd site which is really good - depending, of course, on what dates you are looking at. Give us a clue. Dea x |

I personally find Free bmd quite good for 'trawling', or local Bmd sites if you have one that covers the area you need. Of course, Ancestry is more complete but it can involve a LOT of searching. Try to establish roughly when they might have dies - e.g. do they disappear between census, in which case, you only need search a 10 year period etc. Give us a couple of examples of who you are looking for and when and where and perhaps we can point you in the right direction. How do I do that? Sorry if it sounds a silly question. Unfortunately all my family I am tracing used to live around the Bolton area and I live in Kent. Would I have to go to Bolton to search it? |

Where are you looking for the deaths? Have you tried burials at your local registry office? |

I seem to be having difficulty trying to find deaths in the family. I do very well with searching births and marriages, but when it comes to deaths I don't get anywhere. I can't imagine that most of my family are still here. Please help with any tips or suggestions. many thanks Nikki |
