Have you done a test page Chris? Have you checked all the leads are connected properly - computer end and printer end? Have you tried taking the cartridge out and reinserting it? Have you turned the machine off and then back on? When you tell it to print do you get the print box up which tells you the information is going through but it's just not printing out?

is there a colour and a Black cartridge on your printer because I found if I only changed one neither would work and it wouldnt print kept saying no cartridge so I unclicked the one that did not need changing too and put them both back in and it worked.

HP DeskJet 5552 Printing Problems (1 of 4) Having problems printing from HP DeskJet 5552. Use it via a Belkin Wireless Print Server (F1UP0001) and Netgear (DG834G v2) Wireless ADSL Router. If use HP Printing Assistant can print Test Page and calibrate/clean printer perfectly. If use any other external application - i.e. Word 2003, it sends print job, goes to print and then prints a blank page. Replaced printer cartridges, reinstalled printer drivers and print server drivers and tried a direct USB connection and still does same. Prints from another PC connected in same way perfectly so convinced a software issue. Any ideas! Only happened after added a firewire card! Also cannot access windows Update page saying my browser is not IE5. I use IE6! Use Bullguard Antivirus and scan is negative for viruses. from googling answer given I had a similar problem with a Canon i860 printer. It would print a test page and it would print the color part of a word document, but but not the black text. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software with no change. I ended up uninstalling the software and drivers, deleting the left-over folders in windows, and finally deleting all references in the registry. I then installed the software/drivers and it worked fine. Hope this helps

You say you are filling the cartridge yourself,I am not sure about your printer but i have a HP1850, i think there is a little man inside telling HP i am either trying to use 'compatable' cartridges or re-filling the originals!! Sometimes i can get away with it once but then it just packs up,as you said your has. With mine, if i then put a genuine cartridge in it works fine again

Hi Chris, I also have an HP printer & fill my own cartridges, but have found that I have to alternate them. From what I understand, the printer reads the code on the cartridge & if I refill & replace the one that you have just taken from the computer, the printer memory recognizes it as the empty one. (hope that makes sense.) It only seems to remember the last code, so once I have changed it to my spare, I can refill the original & use it next time. I have been doing this since last christmas, quite successfully and my son has used this trick for about 2 years. Hope that this helps. Regards Lyn

HP ink is a very complex compound, most people think ink is ink, it's not. Some HP printers will not recognise refills, some will some won't, the ink is not dense enough for the printer to see it, try buying an original cart this might cure it. Ron www.genealogyprinters*com

hi all I have an epsom printer and although it takes cheaper cartridges, i find the colour print is not the same and i had to keep cleaning the heads as the ink kept clogging up so in effect they didnt last as long as the recommended cartridges.......Hence! you get what you pay for!! Sylvia;-)

I had this type of problem witha brother printer. It stopped printing anything black, although ink cartridge was full. My son took it away and had a look. He found by showing a different paper type, Inkjet I think, worked. It has been printing OK since. Terry Stewart
