Hi Daniel. I think you are getting confused, the All in One tree created using FTM does show everybody in the file not just ancestors and descendants of one person. The down side of the all in one created using FTM is that the layout cannot be altered in any way, we use a program called Genbox for creating and printing the All In One (Everyone) trees, the chart produced by that program is far superior to FTM, any branch, individual or even large chinks of the tree can be moved about to improve the layout. Family Historian can produce trees with all relations to a particular person, not just ancestors or descendents. It can get very big though. I tried printing mine out a while ago (approx 1000 names I think) and it took over practically the whole of my living room floor. You have the option to move boxes, open and close branches etc. Paul

Daniel - I think that you'll find that the tree view in FTM is very versatile, and can cover just about any practical requirement. You can change what info is displayed in each box, even add photos, and you can drag and move individual boxes or even whole branches to suit whatever layout you want. Once you've customised a tree view, you can save it to a unique name so that you can recall it whenever you wish. The main advantage that this has over CAD is that as you add or change data to FTM, your customised tree is also updated - no need to draft it all again from scratch! I did a custom view of a tree of myself and my 2 brothers, with 5 generations of ancestors (including all 32 ggg-grandparents) to fit on an A3 sheet for a calendar. Richard

Karen you can print out yourself from FTM but be warned ;; I have only 350 in my tree and it has already taken quite a large area of 2 walls up and there is more on the table behind me ;;; Babs

My local Morrison's has FTM at 5.99 with a months free access to Ancestry. If only my computer could run the software, I'd be a happy man! Meanwhile, I've sarted using PAF5.2, which seems to have no limit on how many generations you can input. Is the problem you have with record keeping or how the information is displayed? Gordon

Is it a printed blank display/wallchart you are after? If so, try Ron of genealogy printers (GR member). I saw some lovely ones (various sizes) on his stand at the York fair. I am sure you would be able to have one posted to you. Jay

Why not treat yourself to something like Family Tree Maker. The 2005 version can be purchased for about 10 pounds, the 2006 version for about 24 pounds. Think you will find it will hold something like 250,000 records !! Very versatile program allowing you to print out charts/trees, genealogical reports etc, excellent for recording all your info, such as census, BMD details.

Hi Thanks to everyone I am keeping a written journal with all info in,but I wanted to get a huge tree just showing names birt/death dates so I can eventually put it up on the wall in a frame.Will these be suffiently big regards karen
