Valerie, If you look at the image of the index, with all the people registered in that quarter, it is on the left hand page. When you click on view record, you then click on the image of the open book.

where did you get that Tom I got mine from ancestry and its spelt differently ???

thanks for that, I remember some time ago I tried to get a death cert and because I put his middle name which wasnt on the image they didnt send it , so dont want to make any mistakes again like that.

thats what I'd put, it means that if they queery it, you can say exactly where you got it from, rather than you putting what should be there and them saying they cannot find it, and then not giving you your money back because you didn't give the 'correct info'

Do you mean on te FreeBMD part or on the actual image of the GRO index? Like Tom says you need to put what is on the actual index. It might be hard to read if what you have seen is transcribed and is in brackets. Anne

I tend to put what is in the actual index, not what has been transcribed, but what I read.

I am about to order a Birth Cert the image says Lydia Guttent(au)in brackets then G ,just like that is that how I will order it then??
