I hope someone can help me. Im looking for a relative that hasnt been seen since 1951. She was a mother of my cousin who left him when he was 3 years old. I have his mothers birth certificate. I watched a programme the other night about mothers who leave and the same thing had happened to a lady on the show. She went to a records centre and looked up the name of her mother in marriage records and sent them off to be matched up with the date of birth she has for her. Where can I do this and does it cost an absolute fortune? I am sorry, I wont be on line no - gotta sort the kids out, but I will check back tomorrow. |

You can trawl through the marriage indexes for free at ancestry. You will have to search quarter by quarter, year by year and see what you can find. Alternatively, if you know her name and when she was born, you can search an index on ancestry with the birth date and name (either maiden surname or no surname),. If you would like me to search the death 1984 - 2004 PM me the details (rather than post on a public board) |

Im sorry, but if you have his mothers birth certificate, why do you want her marriage certificate? Do you mean you think she may have married after she left him? Was she unmarried when your cousin was born? You can go through the index free of charge on ancestry but it will take a long time to trawl every year. I dont think marriage certs have a date of birth on them to be matched up with her birth cert - do they? Mine only has my age at marriage. |
