Thanks Janet & Christine, I was kinda hoping this might be the case - It might explain why I couldn't find her birth if its earlier - having said this I've just found another one living in Argyle Square, St Pancras, so that's 3 Argyle's now. I guess I'll just keep plodding on - with many thanks |

Some one asks you where you live: 'Argyle St' Fine, I know where that is... The Registrar and the informant could easily just have been talking at cross purposes. I've just been in touch with an American friend, and realised I needed to specify ''UK'' when referring to ''Birmingham'', since there's also one in Alabama (at the very least). Christine |

The info on the cert and in the hospital records would only be as good as that given by the informant/patient. The registrar and hospital would not go checking it out to see whether it was correct or false.Don't forget 1916 was during WW1 jay |

I would really appreciate your thoughts/tips please. I Have birth certificate (1916) which states residence of informant (mother) as Argyle Street, Kings Cross. Have birth info from Queen Charlotte's hospital saying Residence, 19 Argyle St, Kings Cross, W.C. straightforward enough except I cannot find her name in any GRO indices with the name as stated. Have just found a family in 1901census with the same name (including similar to who I am looking for except 8 years older) living in Argyle Street, Leyton, Bow. Do you think this is co-incidence please? How correct are addresses on birth certs etc.? I will of course check this find out but wondered whether its common for names of streets/areas to be mixed up or wrong? Any advice would be really helpful, many thanks |
