OK I give in to asking for help... please... My ggg was Caroline Rebecca Payne b 1838 Shoreditch (Hoxton Old Town) I got her birth cert today which confirms the baptism I found for her at St Leonard's Shoreditch, her parents are John & Caroline. John was a cabinet maker on the birth cert. So with this new found confirmation I went off searching for her pre-marriage census records. 1851 HO107/ 1537 folio 585 p24 Caroline PANE, widow, born 1806 Mitton, Essex, laundress Caroline PANE, daughter b 1839 Shoreditch, Middx Living St Leonard, Shoreditch 1861 RG9/204 folio 66 p25 Caroline Payne, widow, b 1806 Brentwood, Essex, no occ listed Caroline Rebecca Payne, dau, b1838 Shoreditch, dressmaker Living St Luke, Middx The 1861 Caroline Rebecca fits with all I know, she's a dressmaker later too, and uses Rebecca as second name on later census. I'm not convinced by the 1851 one that I've found & I can't find any likely Caroline (mother) + Caroline (daughter) combinations, well, I found one but the dad was Joseph and there were other siblings. The above 1851 & 1861 just show the 2 carolines together, no-one else. Can anyone help me sort this one out & find 1841 John, Caroline & caroline??? Thanks, Sarah :-)

Oh well done Sue & many thanks!! it's a shame the dad's dead (damned inconsiderate of him!) but I'd found the christenings of Edwin & William (by John & Caroline) but have never been able to link them to Caroline Rebecca - now I can! Many thanks again Sarah :-)

Thanks Reg & Sue, I found John & caroline's wedding on IGI too this afternoon and I think that that IS his death, Reg. It's all starting to fit..... Thanks again Sarah :-)
